About ETC

Our editors strive to publish non-fiction books that further knowledge and have lasting value.

Founders

ETC's well-traveled founders at the Taj Mahal in India.

ETC Publications had its genesis in the founder's UCLA doctoral dissertation which was printed by a scholarly publishing company in New England called Shoe String Press. The president of that company subsequently invited Dr. Hostrop to be an editor for a new division of the firm. After three years with Shoe String, Dr. Hostrop and his wife, LeeOna, decided to form their own company, which they named "ETC (Education/Technology/Communication) Publications."

Since the founding in 1972, ETC has grown to be a unique voice in the field of education publishing. Dr. Richard Hostrop and LeeOna Hostrop have devoted a lifetime to the world of education on many levels. Between them they have logged decades as classroom teachers in primary, middle, high school and community college levels in the United States and in American schools overseas. In addition, they have served as school administrators and members of numerous school and library boards. Many books have resulted from their experiences in the classroom and from the valuable contacts they have made in education.

ETC is primarily concerned with publishing nonfiction works that are interesting and useful to the reader. Submissions for review are welcomed by ETC. Books for schools - students, teachers, staff, and administrators - are preferred. Other nonfiction types, as evidenced by this website, are welcomed for review as well.
