About the Book
Frank Bogert knows Palm Springs. Elected three times as mayor, he lived here before Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Walt Disney, Dwight Eisenhower, John Kennedy, and Ronald Reagan ever came to visit or buy a home. He knew them all, and many more. He came shortly after the war - World War I that is - and has been in the middle of the city's social, cultural and political life ever since. In a series of colorful vignettes, he summarizes the lives of Palm Springs' movers and shakers - "characters who crossed my trail" - over the past 75 years! A great read!

Huell Howzer's Review: "History is so important and yet so fragile. It can very easily slip through the cracks of time and disappear forever, taking with it the stories of the people who literally shaped the communities we live in today. And without this knowledge, understanding and appreciation of where we came from, and how we got where we are, we approach the future with a diminished and incomplete vision of just where we're going . . ."And that's where Frank Bogert comes in. Frank's been an important part of the life, the texture and the fabric of Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley . . .since the 1920s and has been right in the middle of everything the whole time . . . "Frank Bogert, that crusty old desert rat, with a mischievous twinkle in his eye, that quick sharp wit and a heart as expansive as the desert floor, has given us all something very special."
